Have Fun, Be Different
Hi, I am Silang
I am a first year master student in the human-centered design & engineering (HCDE) program at University of Washington, graduating in 2027 summer. Previously, I completed my undergraduate degree in computer engineering at National University of Singapore with First Class Honours.
I am currently looking for UX research and product management internship roles in 2026 summer! Drop me a note in my LinkedIn below for interest!
I have three years of UX research experience with proven cross-cultural leadership experience in user-centered design and research, with expertise in mixed-methods studies, rapid prototyping and UX mentoring and advocacy, demonstrated through multiple peer-reviewed publications, start-up initiatives, school projects and a full-time internship at MNC.
In my undergraduate human-computer interaction (HCI) research, I published one first-author publication on multimodal input information retrieval (MIIR) system on augumented reality (AR) head-mounted display (HMD) with Synteraction Lab (formerly NUS-HCI Lab), supervised by Prof. Shengdong Zhao, director of the Synteraction Lab, and Prof. Haiming Liu, director of the Centre for Machine Intelligence at Southampton University. My other two co-author publications are on multimodal messaging application on AR HMD and design for interactive multimodal information retrieval and access for heads-up computing.
Fun Fact about Me: After reading The Singularity is Near following the completion of primary school in in China, I asked my parents to send me abroad for a more holistic education. After a few days of hunger strike, followed by memorizing all the vocabulary in 6 American primary school English textbooks in one month, my parents finally agreed to send me to Singapore, where my journey of finding the humans in machines — and the machines in humans — truly began.
