Hi, I am Silang!
I am a human-computer interaction researcher, architecture and urban planning enthusiast and comedy lover!
I am currently a year 4 computer engineering undergraduate student in the National University of Singapore (NUS). My high-level life goal lies in the design, engineering and commercialization of non device-centric computing platforms like AR glasses, that would foster a closer connection between people and our physical environemnt via digital means, for an augumented lived experience.
Currently, I am doing a self-initiated research on human multimodal expression of information needs, and the design of multimodal input information retrieval (MIIR) systems on heads-up augumented reality (AR) glasses with the Synteraction Lab (formerly NUS-HCI Lab), under the guidance of Prof. Shengdong Zhao, director of the Synteraction Lab, and Prof. Haiming Liu, director of the Centre for Machine Intelligence at Southampton University.
Fun Fact about Me: After reading The Singularity is Near and Steve Jobs when I was 13, I asked my parents to send me abroad for a more international education in Singapore. After a few days of hunger strike, followed by memorizing all the vocabulary in six American primary school English textbooks in one month, my parents finally agreed. That was the moment I took over the steering wheel of my own life.
